Keith Bertschin's side, which included several regular first team squad members, took the lead just five minutes into the game at Damson Park when Marcos Painter headed home from a Mat Birley cross.

Blues should really have doubled their lead ten minutes later. DJ Campbell was fouled in the box and he himself took the resulting penalty kick which was comfortably saved by Wolves keeper Micheal Oakes.

The second goal was not long coming however and Painter again played a major role. His left wing cross into the box found Oliver Allen unmarked to slot home from six yards out with just 29 minutes played.

Allen had a reasonable chance to double his tally seven minutes after the break but fired high and wide when well placed but Blues ran out comfortable winners to record just their second win of 2006.

Matthew Upson, who has been sidelined for the past two months with a pelvic injury, completed just over an hour of the game whilst Medhi Nafti played 70 minutes in this his second reserve team outing over the past seven days.
