The Blues keeper was dismissed by rookie referee Mike Oliver 23 minutes into the match at St Andrews for a professional foul on striker Jamie Mackie which also resulted in a penalty for the visitors which Paul Gallagher scored from to give Argyle a 1-0 lead.
However, Blues boss Alex McLeish has confirmed that, having watched television replays of the incident , the club will be appealing the sending-off.
