The 22-year-old winger has turned his loan spell at St Andrew's into a permanent move by signing a three year contarct at St Andrew's in a deal that could cost the Blues up to £3million.

"Anybody who witnessed his performance against Everton at the weekend will understand that he is an outstanding footballer," Bruce told Sky Sports News.

"His off-the-field problems have been well documented but we're delighted he's signed.

"It's not often that you sign a player of his calibre - one so young and British - so we're delighted that we've got him on a three-year deal.

"It's a big day for the club and a big day for Jermaine.

"He's one of those old-fashioned types who can beat a man. He's got very, very good feet.

"Since he burst onto the scene has a 15/16 year-old we've all been aware of the ability he's got.

"He's someone who can go past people. He's one of a dying breed that gives you something different and if he keeps performing like he did against Everton on Saturday then we've signed an outstanding footballer."
