Horsfied, on the pitch as a second half substitute for the injured Clinton Morrison, pooped up with the ll important winner in the fourth minute of added time to give Blues a much needed victory over their local rivals.

"Horsfield is a manager's dream," Bruce said after the game at St. Andrews.

"He's had to fight throughout his career, but he works hard, plays hard and is great to have in the dressing room.

"He's been knocking on my door constantly because he wants to start and I understand that.

"He's absolutely magnificent at coming on and changing games for us.

"He has a knack of picking up the pace of a game and when defenders are tired the last thing that they want to see is Horsfield coming at them.

"He's done terrifically well I'm delighted for him. He deserves to be the hero and I understand why the crowd associate with him because of everything he stands for."
