Bruce throws down challenge to Marriott

Marriott, who was signed last week from Barnsley until the end of the season, played his first game in a Blues shirt in the reserves 2-0 defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday night.

Bruce has made it clear, after seeing his number one keeper Nico Vaesen ruled out for the remainder of this season at least, that he intends to start next seasons campaign with three goalkeepers to choose from.

“If Andy performs, we’ve got an option both sides that we’ll extend his deal beyond the summer. It’s his big opportunity,” said the Blues boss.

Marriotts Blues debut didn't go as well as he would have wanted as the reserves were defeated 2-0 by Man City!
