Cisse Wants To Stay

The Senegal international skipper was placed on the transfer list during the summer after a much-publicised fall-out with Blues boss Steve Bruce over firstly a mix-up as to when he should have returned to pre-season training and then for arriving late on his first day back at Wast Hills in the summer.

"I want to put all my problems behind me and help Birmingham City. I have two years left on my contract and I want to stay here. My future lies here and I am committed to the cause," Cisse told the Birmingham Evening Mail.

"In the summer I honestly didn't know I had to come in a week earlier. There were communication problems during the summer and I was unable to speak to the club.

"I did not know any different. People can believe me, or not. I know myself that this was down to a genuine misunderstanding.

"With hindsight and if I had been the manager, I would have made the same sanctions. I understand that what happened did not look good, that I let him and the club down.

"But there are no problems now. Things were confused with the communication and to judge me on that alone is wrong."
