Dunn enjoying life at Blues

The record signing from Rovers said he was down in the dumps at Ewood Park following his much publicised fall-out with Graeme Souness, but now thanks to Blues boss Steve Bruce, the fixtures just can't come quick enough.

“The big difference is having someone who believes in me again, in Steve Bruce," Dunn says in todays Sun newspaper.

“I am playing with a smile on my face once again. I can’t remember when I enjoyed my football quite so much, and the matches can’t come quickly enough for me at the moment.

“I always loved football and that’s why last season was so frustrating. I tried not to let it get me down but it was really hard. I just wanted to go out and play as I knew I could but that wasn’t possible a lot of the time.

“For about six months I was really low and I must have been a nightmare to be around. Mind you, everyone will probably tell you that I still am!

“It isn’t everyone who can say they love their work but that is definitely the case with me again.

“Last year was the lowest point of my career, probably the lowest point since I first kicked a ball. It was the first time I hadn’t enjoyed it and for someone of my age to be thinking that was cruel. It was like a nagging feeling all the time that there was something massive missing from my life.

“But this has been a new lease of life. Steve Bruce, David Sullivan, David Gold, everyone at Birmingham, showed a lot of faith in me and that’s why I am so desperate to repay them all.”
