Dunn Returns For Villa Clash

The influential Blues midfielder, who has been sidelined since last December with hamstring problems, came through 45 minutes of Blues Reserves game against Everton this week and is drafted straight into the first team squad for Sundays's game against the Villa at St Andrew's.

"The good thing about Dunny is with all the preparation work - and all credit to the physios and fitness people - he looks in the best shape of his life physically," Blues boss Steve Bruce told the Press Association.

"He has worked extremely hard. His condition is as good as it can ever be. On that score it's not a risk so he will be involved on Sunday.

"Of course, it is a massive ask of him after playing his first 45 minutes in 10 months. In an ideal world we would like him to have had more games.

"But he showed in 45 minutes the other night for the reserves what we have been missing because he is such a fabulous footballer."

"Statistics tell you that when he is around, we are a far better team so I've got no hesitation in bringing him back in.

"He is one of those who gets you on the edge of the seat, who can see a pass, who can go past people.

"We all know what a fantastic talent he is. We just hope he stays fit now for his sake. He is a big game player.

"He wanted to stay on the pitch the other night, on a horrible, horrible night at Southport, which shows you everything about him he just wants to play.

"All those things about him being able to turn a game come into your mind and he did it a couple of years ago when he came on as a substitute at Villa Park and helped us get back from 2-0 down to 2-2."
