Johnson was forced to withdraw from the Northern Ireland squad for their midweek international game against Wales having picked up a hamstring strain during Blues' 1-1 away draw against Colchester United last weekend.
However, the Blues skipper is expected to have recovered in time for the live telivision clash with Stoke on Sunday morning.
Striker Cameron Jerome is also expected to be included in manager Steve Bruce's squad despite his ommision through injury from the England Under 21 side that drew with Spain at Pride Park on Tuesday night.
