The Mail is reporting that Blues have accepted a £500,000 fee for the one-time record signing, with that fee rising to £1million based on appearances and results.

The Horse signed a five year contract with Blues in the summer of 2000, joining from Fulham for a then club record transfer fee of £2.25 million.

A former hod-carrier and bricklayer he had played for Scarborough, Guiseley & Witton Albion before Kevin Keegan signed him from Halifax for the Cottagers.

The highlight of his Blues career came when he scored the equaliser against Norwich in the play-off final at the Millenium Stadium, which Blues eventually won to gain promotion to the Premiership, and in the same year was named the clubs player-of-the-season.
