Gold Feels Responsible

Blues' four-seasons stay in the Premiership came to an end after Sarturdays 0-0 draw against Newcastle and Portsmouths 2-1 away win at Wigan.

"I've never felt like this in my life," said the Blues chairman.

"I've had bad times but they've all been individual at times.

"You might use an example of your girlfriend leaving you for your best friend. You feel gutted, you feel awful, dreadful, but it's individual.

"This is a collective thing. This is thousands of people who are equally feeling sad and down.

"To a degree, you kind of feel responsible. The fans out there are relying on you, they are relying on the team, they are relying on the manager.

"I feel for them, I feel for my family.

"There are a lot of people involved in this sad moment and that's why it's so painful because you feel partly responsible for their pain.

"I feel this is a personal failure. I'm sorry for everybody. I shook hands with every player and I don't normally do that. I knew it was the end."
