The Blues centre-forward has missed the last two league games against Manchester City and Middlesbrough with the thigh injury he sustained in Blues' opening game of the season against Fulham on 13th August.
However, Heskey appears to be winning his race to be fit in time for this season's first Midlands derby at The Hawthorns on Saturday lunchtime.
