Johnno hoping for Saints return

Johnno has been sidelined since August when he tore muscles on both sides of his groin in Blues' final pre-season friendly against FC Alaves.

The injury required surgery and now after three long months Johnno has returned to training and has pencilled in the trip to St. Mary's as a possible date for a return to first team action.

"Getting the injury when I did was agony, really," said the Jamaican international. "After all we had achieved, to be on the sidelines kicking my heels when the boys were playing in the Premiership was tough. Very tough.

"It was the worst time of my career but I got my head round it because that's the only thing you can do and now I'm well on the way back.

"It has been brilliant to be back in training this week. The injury is healed and I can do everything that I need to do, so it's just a question of building my match fitness back up.

"I'll need a reserve game or two and how soon I'll be completely ready, it's hard to say. The Tottenham game on Saturday is too soon, but maybe I could be getting somewhere near the following week.

"It would be fantastic just to be part of the squad again."
