Keeper loan deal ruled out

Vaesen was stretchered-off three minutes from the end of normal time during the 2-0 victory over Villa and is awaiting results of scans on a knee injury.

Early indications suggest that the Belgian keeper has suffered cruciate ligament damage and could be sidelined for months.

In the past, clubs have been given special dispensation by Premier League officials to take a keeper on loan when injuries such as Vaesen's have left them without cover, but on this occasion the Premier League have confirmed that Blues do not come into that category as they currently have two fit professional goalkeepers available.

Clint Davis will therefore come into recognition for the remaining nine fixtures of the season with Ian Bennett taking Vaesen's place as first choice keeper.
