McLeish Holds More Contract Talks

Yeung is keen to tie McLeish to a new deal at St Andrews but the Blues boss looks to be seeking assurances that money will be made available for him to strengthen the side before committing himself to an extended contract.

“Without the players, I can’t succeed, no matter how hard I try,” McLeish has told the press.

“I can’t keep doing what I have done this season. We will have to invest. We will have to spend money in the summer.

“We will lose some players then and it is not cheap to get players in the areas we are looking.

“The most creative players and strikers cost the most money.

“I spoke to Carson at the beginning of the week. We had more negotiations and I said I would leave it up to my advisers on how we see the way forward.

“They know I am an ambitious man and I want to take the club forward, but I need the tools to do that. It does not matter how much bonuses the board offer me.

"I could not do any more than I am doing now. I am already working at maximum level. I have heard people talk about 110 per cent, but 100 per cent is the maximum and that is what I am doing.

“The board can rest assured they will never get any less from me. But I don’t have a magic wand to keep producing great players to keep us at the level of great performances we have seen.
