Purse to step up match action

Purse, who came through the first 45 minutes of the second strings game with Manchester City on Wednesday night after three months on the sidelines with an ankle injury, plans to play the full game in Blues' next reserves fixture against Sheffield Wednesday next week.

“My ankle feels all right. I knew all along I was going to just get a half for the reserves on Wednesday and it has helped," Purse told the Evening Mail

“We have got two more reserve games next week so I can get two 90 minutes in and that should be enough to get me going again.

“The last few months have been a nightmare, especially because I was actually fit from the injury I had an operation on but I then picked up an infection which set me back about seven weeks.

“It has been very frustrating being out of the side but I am just glad to be back now and hopefully I can put all this behind me and go on from here."
