Savage receives death threats

Obviously not content with the assault on Savage during the 2-0 victory at Villa Park, in which two Villa players were shown red cards, fans are now posting death threats on his official fanclub website.

The Welsh international midfielder was substituted by Blues boss Steve Bruce towards the end of the game at Villa Park because he is currently on nine yellow cards and left the pitch to a chorus of abuse from Villa fans.

The amazing thing about this whole affair is that although Savage was at the centre of Dion Dublin's sending-off when he was the victim of a poor tackle that was followed with a head-butt by the Villa forward, I can't remember the Blues midfielder committing a foul during the game!

Savage has been gagged by Bruce since the game although player and manager were due to meet today and a press release may come from this.
