White Hart Lane the target for Purse

Purse played 45 minutes for Blues reserves on Wednesday night - his first match action since an ankle injury sustained in the Premiership victory at Fulham on December 15th.

And now, the Blues centre-back is targetting a return to the first team squad by the time the Tottenham game comes around on April 5th.

"I would say that the derby with West Brom on Saturday would be too quick but then we've got a two-week break and if I train hard and get another reserve game in, then I'd put myself up for selection for the Tottenham match," said Purse.

He is also aware that he it won't be easy for him to walk straight back into a defence that has done so well in recent games.

"Kenny Cunningham and Matty Upson have been playing very well, they've formed a good partnership," he said in Wednesdays Evening Mail.

"I know it's going to be up to me to try and push them out of their places if an opportunity does arise because I don't expect to walk back in."
