Williams hoping for loan extension

The Blues left-back, who spent the whole of last season on-loan to the Loftus Road club, is nearing the end of an initial one month loan with Ian Holloways promotion hopefuls but seems keen to extend the deal behond that.

Speaking in the QPR programme last weekend he said: “Pre-season everywhere is tough, but I think it was especially tough for me this year going back to Birmingham.

"At QPR I was in the fray and in the squad, but at Birmingham I was more on the fringe.

“Heading back to Rangers was always a possibility. I stayed in touch with the coaching staff at Rangers and there were a couple of other clubs interested, they spoke to me but didn’t really appeal to me at the time.

"And then Ollie and I had a chat about a week or so before the season started and he thought it was a good idea to get the ball rolling with a one month loan at Rangers.

"A continued loan spell? A definite possibility," he added.

The transfer window closed at 5pm Monday evening and although the transfer deadline also applies to Nationwide clubs, they are allowed to buy and loan English players throughout the season.
