Motherwell 2 - Blues 1

Last updated : 25 July 2002 By Richard Barker

Blues played first half as 4-4-2

...............Bennett
Kenna, Tebilly, M.Johnson, Grainger
Eaden, Woodhouse, Hyde, D.Johnson
.........John , Devlin

Blues not with it at all and are being torn apart by a youngster called James McFadden

Blues went 1-0 down . McFadden beat 3 players, Tebilly missed the cross and was converted at far post.

Blues equalised 1-1, D.Johnson played in Stern John whose shot was saved but Devlin got the rebound, turned his man and scored

Then Blues went 2-1 down McFadden dispossessed M.Johnson and ran through onto goal and scored neatly past Bennet

Woodhouse went off injured after 40 minutes and was replaced by Savage.

Half-time score ... Blues losing 2-1

Subs warming up at half-time are Lazaridis, Hughes, Williams, Vaesen, Cunningham

At half-time Hughes and Lazaridis replaced Eden and Hyde with D.Johnson switching to the right, so team second half was:

.................Bennett
Kenna, Tebilly, M.Johnson, Grainger
D.Johnson, Savage, Hughes, Lazaridis
.......S.John , Devlin

Apparently we were appalling (especially Lazaridis ) and though we applied a bit more pressure in the last 15 minutes there was absolutely no cutting edge.

McFadden had a good second half too and apparently stood out - a mile better than anyone else on the pitch.

No goals in the second half, finished Blues losing 2-1.

Our man at the game was Richard Barker.
