Stern John opened the scoring as early as the eighth minute, and the lead was doubled three minutes later when Martin Grainger struck from a free-kick.

Blues then scored twice in two minutes, the first from Bryan Hughes when he struck from 35 yards and again through Paul Devlin who fired in off the crossbar.

John grabbed his second of the night on fifty minutes and then Hughes too, scored his second from Grainger's cross.

The seventh goal was scored by Darren Carter who touched in a cross from new record signing Clinton Morrison, making his debut for Blues as a 73rd minute substitute.
