Chris Foy In The Middle For Charlton Game

Last updated : 14 January 2005 By Brian Cartlidge

Blues have not had the pleasure of the St Helens official refereeing any of their games so far this season although he was booked to referee the away fixture at Newcastle on New Years Day before a change was made.

Chris Foy did take charge of two Blues league fixtures last season the last of which ironically was in the 1-1 draw against Charlton at The Valley on 17th April 2004. No Blues players were booked on that occasion.

Prior to the Charlton game Chris Foy had taken charge of the 1-0 away win at Bolton on 25th October 2003. David Dunn and Olivier Tebily were booked that day although Dunn's yellow card was later rescinded.

Mr Foy had also been booked to referee Blues' home fixture with Middlesbrough last December but controversially called the game off just over an hour before kick-off at St Andrew's that day, much to the annoyance of fans and management alike.

Charlton's one game with Chris Foy in the middle this season was in their 1-0 away win at West Brom on 11th December. No players from either side were booked that day.

In total Chris Foy has taken charge of just seven Premier League fixtures so far this season in which he has handed out 6 yellow cards and no reds.

Mr K Pike and Mr M Cairns will be Chris Foys assistants for the game at the Valley on saturday afternoon.
