Mike Riley Refs Curtain Raiser

Last updated : 08 August 2007 By Brian Cartlidge

Blues had the pleasure of the West Yorkshire based official refereeing two of their Championship games last season.

The last time Mike Riley took charge of a Blues game was in our 1-1 draw against West Brom at The Hawthorns on 18th March 2007. The now departed Stephen Clemence was the only Blues player booked on that occasion.

Prior to the Baggies game, Mr Riley had taken charge of Blues' 3-1 home win against Preston on 9th December 2006. Cameron Jerome, Fabrice Muamba and Medhi Nafti all received cautions on that occasion.

In total Mike Riley took charge of 43 games last season in which he handed out 143 yellow cards and 13 reds.

Mr D Bryan and Mr P Sharp will be Mike Riley's assistants for the game at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
