Mrs Pot, can I introduce you To Mr Kettle!!!

Is this woman for real? Can she seriously accuse Hereford of being small minded over ticket prices for next Tuesdays cup tie? For the benefit of those who haven't read it, she is having a whinge over the price of tickets that Hereford want us to charge, saying that THEY want to overcharge supporters. Is this the same woman who adds £1.50 to each away ticket that loyal Blues fans have to pay in order to travel the country to support their team? (£39.50 for Derby tickets.) Pot, Kettle and Black spring to mind.

She really is a piece of work that woman. One line in her article does give me hope though…. And I quote…. "With such small minded people working in our beautiful game, I contemplate if it is time to get out of the business….." Karren PLEASE, do us all a favour and get out of the business! I find it incredible that you fail to see that YOU are amongst the small minded folk in the game crippling loyal fans with your add-ons and sky high prices. Ask yourself why season ticket sales at Blues are so disgracefully low. Ask yourself why we have failed to sell out our ground for such a long time. I'll answer for you shall I? Prices! Pure and simple. I know many of you will say it's the poor brand of football we play but I disagree. We've never been a good side yet history will tell you we used to have one of the most loyal set of supporters in the game. Now a vast number of Bluenoses are filled with disillusionment at being ripped of by you time and time again. If you do leave I'll buy you a mirror as a leaving present, obviously there aren't any in your house. If there were, surely you would have had a good hard look at yourself by now.

Onto football matters. Last week I suggested (after 2 games) that we looked quite attacking and may be okay this season. After the piss-poor performance against Wet Spam I'm inclined to rethink my views. Did anyone else think that we tried to play the away-day style of sitting back and trying to counter? It was worrying. We looked lifeless and clueless, and say what you will about Doyle, if it wasn't for him it would have been a damn sight worse that 0-1. Kapo was a non-existent force. The bloke has qualities that we've been crying out for, but sticking him out on the left then pumping high balls down the middle was pointless. My advice to Bruce, for what it's worth…. Get Kapo alongside Fabrice in the middle, get shot of Nafti, stick Gary Mac out on the left and try to play the ball on the grass. We all know how lethal the Forrs can be, but he needs the ball, at his feet. There were good points mind you. It was great to see the big man Radi back and looking solid. Mr Ridgewell is going to be some player I reckon, and makes a good captain, and Seb Larrsson is working his socks off trying to get into the game. He, like Kapo, is struggling to get hold of the ball out wide with our current system. Another one that needs the ball to feet to be effective. After all, the game is called FOOTball!

Is it just me or do we look a completely different team away from home? Against Chelski on the opening weekend we looked positive and attack minded. Despite defeat we were all impressed with the way we went about things. After that came two disappointing home performances (although we should have beat Sunderland).

Then on Saturday, we started like a train. 34 seconds I think was the official time of Cameron's goal. In all fairness, despite my one-eyed attitude towards my team, I don't think anyone can argue that we always looked a different class to Derby. If the game had finished 7-2 to Blues it would have been a true reflection of how the match went. Cameron could have scored 4. The Forrs could have scored a hat-trick. We did make it hard work for ourselves in the 2nd half and fair play to the returning Maik Taylor for two world class saves during the game. But apart from the one moment we went to sleep early in the second half, leaving two Derby players unmarked in the box, we were always in control.

A couple of highlights from the day were Billy 'the mad midget' Davis getting seriously wound up by the Blues fans, and Liam Ridgewell throwing his shirt into the away fans at the end. I have a message for you Liam…. We no longer remember who it was you played for before you joined us! As far as I'm concerned you have always been a Bluenose!

As ever I'm confused. How can we look so bad one week and then look so good the next?

Final points from me for this week… All credit to whoever came up with the new O'Conner song, hilarious!! Nice one Cameron Jerome for taking your chance and looking the business. And to Brucey for dressing up in the stock market trader shirt!!!

Thanks to Spionkop and bluesince62 for your responses to last weeks article. I genuinely appreciate your comments. Cheers.

Until the next time.
