Maik Taylor
- A better performance.

Melchiot - Did well even playing out of position.

Clapham - Good performance, especially going forward in the 2nd half.

Upson - Did ok.

Martin Taylor - Was doing well before injury.

Anderton - Struggled to handle pace of the game, but looked a threat.

Gray - Severely lacking in confidence.

Clemence - Never going to run a midfield, but did alright.

Carter - In and out of the game, and not at his best.

Blake - A very promising full debut, especially second half.

Heskey - A little isolated at times, but gave his all.

SUBS:
Tebily - Strong and effective, if not conventional.

Morrison - Unlucky on a few occasions.

Yorke - Went close a couple of times.
