Bruce's View: Hereford
Article by Brian Cartlidge Wednesday, 29th August 2007
Steve Bruce singled out debutant goalkeeper Richard Kingson for special praise after the Carling Cup win against Hereford.

"He produced, one, two, three really good saves. He was the big plus of the night for me and can be proud of his debut," Bruce said after the 2-1 win at St Andrew's.

"Can he break into contention for a place? I don't see why not. He has impressed us all by his athleticism He is not the biggest but he is quick and he is fantastic with the ball.

"He is a very competent goal-keeper and that's why I've brought him here. I haven't brought him here for a ride."

The Blues boss also gave credit to Graham Turner's side for the way they fought their way back into the game during the second half.

"All credit to them. They played football as it should be played. A lot of lower league teams go from back to front quickly, they lump the ball up the pitch. They didn't and that stems from the manager.

"In the second-half they had a real go. They have got one or two lively individuals and they made it a bit of a cup-tie, which is just what we didn't want."
