Bob's elder brother, Dave made 239 appearances for Blues during his spell at the club.

Born in Kings Heath on April 9th 1949, he was a pupil at Brandwood School and represented South Birmingham Boys before joining the apprentice staff at St. Andrew's in June 1964, turning professional in May 1966.

Dave was called into the England youth squad as a teenager but failed to gain a team place because of a certain Peter Shilton!

Nevertheless he persevered at club level, gained an F.A Youth Cup runners-up medal in 1967 (as did brother Bob) and became a regular in the Blues side in 1970 taking over the keepers jersey from Jim Herriot.

Latchford, besides his bulky 14 stone frame was surprisingly agile and handled the ball cleanly, making a breathtaking save look simple.

He helped Blues win promotion to the First Division in 1972 and remained Blues' first choice keeper for many years before being sold to Motherwell in July 1977.

Two years later he joined Bury and then became a non-contract player with Barnsley before drifting into Non-League football with Redditch United in 1981, and later assisting at Cheltenham Town and East Worle.

After retiring from the game Dave became a funeral director and became Superintendent of Cemeteries based in Solihull.
