A thoroughly deserved victory

A Stern John brace at Upton Park helped Blues to a 2-1 victory to gain their first away win in the Premiership this season.

"We played very well. We had a game plan to take the match to West Ham and we caused them problems all afternoon," said Bruce.

I'm delighted with this victory."

The form of Stern John over the past week, 5 goals now in two games, has delighted Bruce: "All strikers like to score and I've never had any doubts about his ability," he said.

"I've got no doubt in my mind about his ability. We have all witnessed him today on the big stage with his second goal, and there are not many strikers capable of producing a piece of skill like that.

I am delighted for him and I'm sure he'll benefit from that."
