The 30-year-old Brazilian international striker, who was a free agent having quit German side Borussia Dortmund last March, trained with the Blues squad over the summer months but manager Steve Bruce was unable to see him in match action after he pulled out of the clubs pre-season tour to Germany with a calf injury.
