Behind-closed-doors friendly arranged

Blues have no Premiership fixture this weekend as the fourth round FA Cup games take place and the midweek fixture with Man Utd scheduled for next Tuesday has been re-arranged for February 4th.

Therefore, Blues' next fixture is the away game with Bolton on February 1st and the friendly with Spurs has been arranged to keep the players in trim.

Central defender Darren Purse is hoping to play some part in that game as he continues his rehabilitation from ankle surgery and is pencilling-in the game at The Reebok for his first team comeback.

"I've pencilled it in, maybe to get a half, but we'll have to wait and see," Purse told the B'ham Evening Mail said. "It would be a bonus if I could play."

"A week last Friday my ankle blew up again and gave me some pain," added Purse.

"The problem was that I tried to come back too soon after the operation, which I'd only had 10 days before.

"This time I'm being more careful. I've done three days solid in the gym and I'm now ready to do some running outside again.

"I'd like to think I will be available for selection by the time Bolton comes round."
