Birmingham City v Hull City

Two teams who were among the favourites for the drop at the beginning of the season meet at St Andrew's on Saturday.

The home side, Birmingham City, already have their permanence in the division next season secured, whereas their visitors - Hull City - find themselves with a mountain to climb to get out of the relegation spots.

Following their shock 4-1 defeat at home to Burnley last Saturday, Hull now boast the worst away record in the Premier League this season, having picked up only four draws on the road all season and are without a point in six league trips.

They are likely to find it difficult to end this barren run at St Andrew's though, given that only two Premier League sides have conceded fewer goals at home than Birmingham this season, even if Alex McLeish's men have drawn their last three there.

For Hull's under-fire managerial consultant Iain Dowie, any hope for the Tigers' survival this season now depends on the response from his players, as he told local media: "In dark times you look around the dressing room to see who has got the strength of character.

"You learn a lot about people in adversity and I'm looking for a reaction now. We've got to train at intensity, work hard and be brave to get on the ball."

However Dowie will have to cope for the rest of the season without top scorer Stephen Hunt who has failed to win his battle with a foot injury and must now undergo surgery. Andy Dawson will play after shrugging off a bruised leg picked up at Burnley, though Bernard Mendy is a doubt. Centre-half pairing Anthony Gardner (ankle) and Kamil Zayatte (knee) remain sidelined for the Tigers, as does Amr Zaki (knee).

Alex McLeish should be less constrained by injury worries, with Lee Carsley (ankle) potentially available once more after a long period on the sidelines, while David Murphy (hamstring) and Garry O'Connor (thigh) will not feature.
