The Blues midfielder, who is two months into a three month loan spell on Wearside, put in a man-of-the-match performance for the Black Cats during their home win against promotion rivals Ipswich Town on Sunday and McCarthy has said that he has already had talks with Steve Bruce about the possibility of keeping Carter on loan for the remainder of the season. "I spoke to Steve Bruce on Friday and told him I want Darren to stay here until the end of the season" McCarthy said after the 2-0 win at the Stadium of Light. "Steve will make a decision in the next two weeks or so. I'd like to keep him."
