Birmingham City's supporters can be forgiven for rubbing their eyes when they wake up this morning and glance at the league table. A season that was supposed to be about survival has turned into a European assault. Maybe Carson Yeung knew what he was doing when he spent £81m on Birmingham City after all.

Anyone would think it was Christmas in Birmingham. Two goals from Cameron Jerome, finally scoring at St Andrew’s this season, enabled Birmingham City to record a fifth successive victory and climb into the top six of the Barclays Premier League for the first time since the latter half of the 2003-04 season.
