The former England Under 21 midfielder was sacked by the Blues for a breach of contract after failing to turn up for training in August, and, according to the club, stayed AWOL for three weeks without just explanation.

Woodhouse decided to contest the sacking at a tribunal hearing which was held on Monday.

Blues managing director Karren Brady told the Birmingham Evening Mail. "We believe we were fully justified to take the action we did against the player.

"He had a right to appeal and that's why a tribunal was held.

"Our view is that he acted against the terms of his contract and the tribunal will inform us of their decision within 14 days."

Woodhouse still had almost two years to run on his contract at St. Andrew's.
