Blues Beaten In Senior Cup

A fairly experienced Blues side didn't make life easy for themselves and were soon two goals down against the Dr Martens Premier Division side.

Midfielder Aliou Cisse reduced the deficit to 2-1 just before half time and Neil Kilkenny equalised midway through the second period to send the semi-final at The Moorlands into extra time.

The Moors scored twice in the second period of extra time however and Blues' defence of the trophy they won last year was finally over.

The Hall Green side now face Wolves in the final of the competition.

One bright note from the game was that left-back Jamie Clapham, who has been sidelined with a bout of shingles for the last six weeks, came through the full 120 minutes.

Blues: Doyle, Sheppard, Clapham, Carter, Courtney, Painter, Kilkenny, Cisse, Barrowman, Hamilton, Motteram. Subs: Dormand, Hall, Birley, Parratt, Curtis.
