Ever since Blues co-owner David Sullivan confirmed earlier this week that the club had made an offer 'north of £5million' for an unidentified player, fans have been left guessing as to who that player might be.
Well if todays newspaper reports are to be believed then the player in question is United's want-away England international midfielder.
The reports suggest Blues boss Steve Bruce will seek permission to talk to Butt about a possible move to St. Andrews this week.
If these stories prove to be true then I believe the fee for the 29-year-old star would not be the stumbling block but his salary demands and convincing him that we are a club going forward may well be!
