Blues linked with Villa's Wright

The left back position has proved to be a problem for Bruce this season and Wright, who's contract at Villa Park ends in June, was watched by the Blues boss in Villa's reserve game against Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.

Wright joined Villa for £1 million in March 1995 from Blackburn, but hasn't figured in Graham Taylors first team plans since the defeat at Bolton on September 1st even though he has now overcome a niggling groin injury.

Frustrated at a lack of first team football and aware of how well team-mate Steve Stone has done since his loan move to first division Portsmouth, Wright could be tempted by a move across the Midlands to St. Andrew's should Bruce follow-up his interest in the 31-year-old left back.
