Boss delighted with keeper signing

A keeper has been high on the Blues managers agenda all summer following the release of on-loan Andy Marriott and young Australian Clint Davies left him with just Ian Bennett as the only fit keeper at the club to choose from.

Yes, we’ve taken Maik on a year’s loan with a view to a permanent transfer. We think he’s a very good signing for us," Bruce told the clubs official website last Saturday, when the signing was first disclosed.

"He’s an international, around 6ft 4in and has done it at the highest level.

“I’m pleased we’ve managed to bring someone in of his quality as, although it was not a case of us panicking, it was getting near to the start of the season.”

"I have seen Maik in action on numerous occasions and I'm certain that he can make a valuable contribution for us next season.

"He is a tall, commands the penalty box very well and is also great at collecting crosses.

"His signing will also give us good competition for the keeper's jersey."
