Bowyer will now have to serve a three match ban forcing him to sit out Blues' match against Reading and the first two games of next season despite Blues having lodged an appeal against the dismissal.
"We are disappointed with the decision but are grateful to the FA for hearing the appeal and now have to get on with things despite losing the services of a key member of our squad," Blues boss Alex McLeish has said.
