The young Blues defender, son of manager Steve Bruce, had been loaned out to Tranmere Rovers until 22nd January next year but returned to St Andrew's early by mutual consent.
Blues had hoped that the Premier League would allow them to play Bruce in first team matches but this bid has been rejected meaning he will not be available for selection for the game against Newcastle United this weekend.
