Coly's contract with Lens runs out next summer and Leeds, Middlesbrough and Tottenham have all been linked to signing him.
Bruce said: "Coly is someone we are very interested in and we could be near to sorting something out. We will have to see how matters develop.
“But to say a deal has been agreed is very, very premature. We haven’t agreed anything or even spoken with the player.
"Will Aliou Cisse being here help Coly to make up his mind? I hope so.”
