Bruce Confirms Striker Bid

Last updated : 27 December 2004 By Brian Cartlidge

The Blues boss admitted that Blues are interested in signing the former Bradford City striker and that talks are ongoing about bringing the Clarets top goalscorer this season to St Andrew's during the transfer window which opens on January 1st.

Despite the Emile Heskey/Clinton Morrison partnership beginning to bear fruit in recent games Bruce is keen to get another striker on board after losing on loan Chelsea striker Mikael Forssell through injury back in September and summer signing Dwight Yorke currently sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Coca Cola Championship side Wigan Athletic have been keen to land Blake but after having a fourth bid of around £1.25million turned down by the Clarets last week they have cooled their interest and it now looks like the 28-year-old striker could be on his way to St Andrew's instead.
