Bruce Hopeful

Talking to Sky Sports News after Blues first day back on the training field after the summer break, Bruce said that he was 'very hopeful' that the Dutch full back and the Danish winger would sign for the club.

Blues have had a bid for Gronkjaer accepted by Chelsea while Melchiot is available on a Bosman free transfer and the Blues boss has held talks with both players over the past week.

Bruce said that should the two deals go through then Blues would have managed to have signed the five targets he identified to the board that he would like to bring to the club during the close season - Muzzy Izzet, Emile Heskey and Julian Gray are already on board.
