Bruce wants to strengthen midfield
He has targeted 20-year-old French midfielder Gerald Forschelet from AS Cannes, who is currently on trial at the club.

Bruce has been impressed enough with the player to open talks about a possible transfer according to reports.

"The kid's young, gets up and down, can tackle and is very fit," said the Blues boss. "He's been with us for a few days and we like what we have seen. It's fair to say that we are pursuing it."

Born in Papeete in Tahiti, Forschelet is 6ft 1in tall and broke into the Cannes team last season. He has played 10 games this season, scoring once, for the Division Two club.

His club are understood to be having financial difficulties but suggestions of an £800,000 price tag are at odds with what Blues are likely to propose.

Bruce is keen to strengthen his midfield and he has already signed Arek Bak, from Polonia Warsaw on a three-month loan.

Reported interest in Coventry's Lee Carsley has again been dismissed by Bruce.
