Bruce: Referee Poll was right

Last updated : 09 November 2002 By Brian Cartlidge
Bruce initially complained that Horsfield did not deserve to be sent-off for a clash near the touchline with Preston defender Graham Alexander.

However, after watching the incident again Bruce has been honest enough to admit he had made an error of judgement.

Bruce said: "I admit that I didn't think Horsfield deserved a red card but after reviewing the incident I have to say Mr Poll was correct and I was wrong.

"I can't condone what Geoff did the other night. It was wrong.

"If we can all come out and be as honest as we possibly can be, admit if we've made a mistake, then I think it can only help. We've all got jobs to do."

Horsfield now faces a three-match suspension for his actions and Bruce has fined the Blues striker the maximum 2 weeks wages.
