Bruce stays cautious

Bruce was delighted with the side after the single goal victory at Carrow Road.

Stern John's first-half strike gave them three points, but Bruce also had goalkeeper Nico Vaesen to thank as he saved a Gary Holt spot-kick leaving the Blues boss's only criticism for referee Messias after he awarded the dubious second half penalty to the Canaries.

"It was a terrific result," said Bruce. "It would have been unfair if the penalty had gone in because it wasn't a penalty as we have just seen on all the replays."

"But justice was done as Nico has produced a great save from the spot kick.

Assessing Blues' promotion chances, Bruce added: "I still think there's a few twists and turns to go yet but we have hit a bit of form.

"We've had some difficult games. We've played nine games in 27 days against top teams and we've got another against Coventry next week.

"But if we can stay injury-free and have a bit of luck we'll have a chance. The hard work starts now.

"We have been playing catch-up for the three months I've been here and it doesn't stop here."

Bruce paid tribute to Trinidad and Tobago international Stern John after another vital goal.

"Stern has scored a few goals for us at important times," said the Blues manager.

"I am delighted with his contribution, as I am with all the players.

"This result puts us back in with a good shout for the play-offs."
