Bruce: Worst performance of the season

Last updated : 27 October 2002 By Brian Cartlidge
"We had too many of our big players not performing as well as we know they can do," said Bruce.

"We had a good period in the second half but we haven't really tested thier goalkeeper and towards the end we could have conceded three or four.

"We lacked that spark today that we needed to create chances.

"We did have four or five players out today but we are not going to use that as an excuse.

"We must try and aim to keep clean sheets in this league but we are making too many mistakes that are costing us.

"We knew it was going to be tough in this league and there were going to be games like today.

"I believe we have got enough quality in this side to remain in this division.

"It's fair to say that we need that bit of luck and injuries and suspensions don't help.

"It was disappointing but we have now got to regroup and get the lads together on Monday and start again.

"We now have to look to get three points from another home game next week."
