BTM Euro 2004: Week 1 Winners

Last updated : 22 June 2004 By Brian Cartlidge

Dave Turvey's "Topsy Turvey United" from Nottinghamshire were pleased to see the Italians miss a host of chances in their match with Sweden, and the Azzurri's failure to put them away helped his side seal the maximum 25 points to total 154 and win by five.

"BHAFC", managed by Kent's Andrew Donaldson, also predicted a 1-1 scoreline for that game, and it enabled his team to sneak into the runners-up spot at the expense of the luckless Jamie Nicoll's "Nitrous Villa" by virtue of having predicted one more correct score.

Also out of luck was Phil Kaberry. His "The Flying Gimps" managed to find six correct scores from the 14 games - more than any other side - but with only one correct result to go along with them he narrowly missed out, finishing a further point back in fourth.

The two of them are still riding high in the overall table though, and they are just two of the hundreds of players who remain in with a chance of claiming one of the super prizes on offer.

Our congratulations to Dave - who wins the first weekly top prize of a copy of LMA Manager 2004 for Xbox or PS2 - and Andrew, to whom a Footymad DVD bundle will be winging its way.

Don't forget that we are celebrating the current Euro 2004 tournament by having teamed up with top software house Codemasters to offer some simply mega prizes to the best managers in the competition.

The winner of the overall tournament will walk away with an awesome Microsoft Xbox games console, and copies of Codemasters' fantastic LMA Manager 2004 and England International Football to play on it.

There are three overall runners-up prizes of one of the Codemasters' football console games (either on PS2 or Xbox), and we'll also be giving away a further Codemasters console game to the best points scorers in each of the next two weeks of the competition. The runner-up in each of those weeks won't miss out either, and will receive a Footymad DVD bundle for their efforts.

Existing 'Beat The Manager' regulars can simply login straight away and start predicting the outcome of the first four games of the tournament. New users are of course welcome, and will just need to fill in a short registration form before joining in the fun.
