The draw will take place on Wednesday, 25th August and is being screened live on Sky Sports immediately after their live showing of the Newcastle Utd v Norwich City Premiership game.
Blues will go into the hat along with the other 13 Premiership sides that are not involved in European competitions.
Last seasons Carling Cup competition proved fruitless for Blues as they suffered a humiliating defeat at Blackpool at the second round stage.
