The Football Association charged the Blues right-back with improper conduct after he was seen to gesture towards the home fans at the end of the 1-0 defeat at Villa Park.

Carr requested a personal hearing which was held today (Thursday) and he was given a one match suspension.

A statement on the official FA website reads: "At an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today, Birmingham City’s Stephen Carr was awarded a one-match suspension for improper conduct.

"Carr was charged following an incident in City’s fixture with Aston Villa at Villa Park on 25th April 2010, and the Commission took into account his previous record."
